Platforms are directories, not guarantees
B2B platforms connect you to suppliers fast — but a listing is marketing, not verification. The platform shortcut is real; the guarantee is not.
What works
- Search by product category and filter by trade capability and years registered
- Shortlist several suppliers and request the same brief from all — compare like with like
- Use platform signals as a shortlist input, never as a final answer
What doesn't
- Believing ratings and photos without verification — listings can be curated
- Chasing the lowest price in the first round of quotes
- Assuming a verified badge means a real factory — verify the business yourself
Before you engage
- Ask for the registered business name and export license
- Request samples from shortlisted suppliers before any negotiation
- Verify the factory address and scale independently — see supplier verification
The platform gets you the conversation. Verification gets you the supplier.
